When I first watched the film The Secret, I realized something important. The very first thing I wanted to change in my life was money. It was plain and simple. I wanted more of it. I wanted a different job, a different house, a different car. And the truth was, I could not have those things without more money.
The real problem, then—and in many ways still—was that I didn’t know how to obtain more money. I doubted my skills and the time I believed I had left. So here I was, searching for ways to earn more, to do more, to become more. Yet, I was focusing relentlessly on money. As a result, I began to neglect the very things that matter most: my body, my mind, and my soul.
Somewhere along the way, I became content with poverty. It didn’t happen because I wanted it. I had convinced myself that this was as good as it was going to get. I told myself I didn’t have the means to become financially rich. That belief became a paradigm I lived inside of.
No one should be content with poverty. You deserve to walk through life with your head held high, grounded in confidence and positive expression. You deserve to afford the things you want. You deserve to live with love in your heart rather than constant stress and worry. You deserve a complete life—one filled with love, happiness, exploration, and peace.
“I demand riches in definite terms; I have a definite plan for acquiring riches; I am engaged in carrying out my plan, and I am giving an equivalent, in useful service, of the value of those riches I demand”
~ Andrew Carnegie
Like many people, I was raised with the belief that money doesn’t grow on trees. I was taught that you must work hard to earn money. Without a formal education, your earning potential is limited. That you are confined to what a company decides you are worth. By that way of thinking, I was essentially doomed from the start to ever achieve the financial life I desired.
For much of my life, I have carried the belief that because I never went to college, I could never truly be successful. What a limiting—and ultimately foolish—way to think.
Bob Proctor stands as living proof that formal education is not a requirement for success. He demonstrated, time and again, the power of applying the right principles, methods, and tools. You can become rich in every area of your life. You should pursue this richness. His life has inspired me to shift my mindset from why I can’t to how I can.
Instead of declaring limitations, you need to learn to ask better questions. How can I do this? What possibilities exist that I haven’t yet considered? When you truly put your mind to work, solutions begin to appear. There are ways to achieve financial abundance. You need to ask the right questions. Don’t convince yourself that it’s impossible.
Sometimes awareness is the first real step toward change.
